We were honored to sponsor the 1st Annual Eagle and Plow Mercer Estates Run/Ride for Charity through a donation of HEROCLIPs. 100% of proceeds were donated to Grassroot Soccer and the Semper Fi Fund. As a team, we were so inspired by the deep philanthropic roots each host displayed, evidenced by their giving back such generous gifts to communities in need. Accompanied by exactly the type of ‘everyday hero’ the HEROCLIP was made for, we couldn’t have asked for a better setting in which to discover our team’s values and guiding principles.
Below are a few great pictures from our event. We were lucky to connect with other sponsors such as Benton City EMTs and Velo City cycles, and those who found an immediate use for our clip product at the race!
Mercer family run deep with their philanthropic roots. Rob Mercer, is a former Marine so patriotism and service are important threads in the Mercer family fabric. Throughout the family’s history, Mercers have risen to serve and defend the United States of America both here and abroad. We honor and revere everyone who does the same, from police officers and firefighters to soldiers and sailors.
Rob Mercer and John Derrick decided to plant a special vineyard (BLOCK 93), in the most ideal location on the Mercer farm. Not only would it serve as a memorial for fallen heroes, but as a means to give back to programs that would benefit those who have served and suffered. 911 vines were hand-planted in BLOCK 93 of the Cavalie Vineyard. The fruit from these vines is used, exclusively, to produce our Eagle & Plow, BLOCK 93 Cabernet Sauvignon. 100% of the revenues generated by this wine are donated to charities that serve American servicemen and women, their families, and the survivors of tragic events.
Celebrity host with a hero clip
We also had a celebrity host, Ethan Zohn! He was the not only the winner of S3 Survivor: Africa but was also such an amazing person to be around. He started Grassroot Soccer (GRS), an adolescent health organization that educates, inspires and mobilizes young people to overcome their greatest health challenges and live healthier, more productive lives.
Grassroot Soccer uses the power of soccer to connect young people with the mentors, information and health services they need to thrive; it incorporates soccer into dynamic lessons about health and wellness that engage young people and break down cultural barriers.
You can find out more about this cause and how to get involved here: http://ezohn.com/humanitarian/grass-roots-soccer/
After the race, we were invited to join everyone at the Tasting Room in Prosser for an all-you-can-eat taco bar, live music, live auction and wine tasting with lovely live music from local musicians.
Overall, it was a very successful event raising funds for important causes, and also a wonderful team building experience. We hope to attend next year!
